Raising the stakes

We are an independent, not‑for‑profit organisation governed by some of the world’s most respected research experts and supported by GSK

GSK has a long-standing commitment to develop new treatments and vaccines for diseases specifically affecting developing countries, and has pioneered a number of approaches to try to stimulate research in this area. One of the most significant initiatives is the creation of the Tres Cantos Open Lab.

Based at GSK’s Tres Cantos Medicines Development Campus in Spain, the Tres Cantos Open Lab offers top international scientists and academics the opportunity to pursue their own projects as part of an integrated team. Researchers are able to access GSK’s expertise, processes, and industrial-scale infrastructure as part of a collaborative approach to drug discovery.

To help fund, guide and support these projects, the Tres Cantos Open Lab Foundation has been established and GSK has provided an initial donation of £5 million to jump start research work.
