Shaping the future

Potential research projects are assessed by an independent governing board and the foundation’s trustees

We invite scientists, researchers, academics and institutions from around the globe to propose projects that could benefit from the funding and support the Foundation can offer.

Our independent Governing Board will assess each proposal on its scientific merit and its match to the Foundation principles. The Board will make recommendations, while the Foundation’s Trustees ultimately make the final decisions.

We specifically want to help projects that demonstrate significant potential to contribute towards developing innovative new medicines for diseases of the developing world and that would benefit through the collaboration and discovery expertise available through GSK.

To be considered for support, there should be added value for the project in operating within the collaborative principles of open lab, and it must align with the strategic objectives of the Foundation:

  • To develop novel classes of medicines for malaria.
  • To develop new medicines that reduce treatment time and improve activity against multiple drug resistant (MDR) and extensively drug resistant (XDR) TB.
  • To develop novel approaches to tackle other neglected diseases of the developing world, such as leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis.
