The Tres Cantos Open Lab Foundation was built around the belief that the best ideas come from collaborating with other like-minded people and organisations. The task of developing new medicines for endemic infectious diseases is too complex to be addressed by one group alone. Which is why the Tres Cantos Open Lab Foundation supports scientists from universities, not-for-profit partnerships, other research institutes and industry to advance research and development activities on global health .The Foundation reviews and selects new projects on a regular basis, and aims to support an average of 10 active open lab projects at steady state.

Projects underway in the Open Lab involve innovative research into Tuberculosis, Malaria, Kinetoplastid and Enteric Infections and Gut Health. In each case, the fresh ideas brought to the Open Lab by the visiting scientists are magnified through access to the world-class facilities, experience and mentorship.

By fostering close partnerships and alliances, the Open Lab acts as an incubator and accelerant in helping to develop a critical mass of knowledge around endemic infectious diseases. We believe this knowledge will lead to new innovations, and the discovery and development of desperately-needed new medicines, creating a truly world-leading proof of the power of collaborative research.

If you have a research project idea that meets our criteria, has the potential to benefit from the funding and support provided by the Foundation and collaboration with GSK scientists at GSK Global Health R&D we want to hear from you.
